From our exclusive Pasadena Cat's Meow series. Magothy Methodist Church is home to one of the first Methodist societies in Anne Arundel County. A log church was originally erected on a tract acquired in 1764, which is now the cemetery. Bishop Francis Asbury preached here in August 1777. The church was built on the present site in 1859, was destroyed by fire in 1666, and was rebuilt as it stands now in 1887.
